Sumba Itineraries: 4, 5 or 6 Days

Start 12.00 WITA at Tambolaka (TMC), finish 11.00 WITA at Waingapu Airport (WGP).

  1. Day 1

    Tambolaka & Ratenggaro

    Meet at Tambolaka Airport (TMC), check in and lunch. Ratenggaro Traditional Village, then sunset at Pero Beach.

  2. Day 2

    Weekuri & Prai Ijing

    Weekuri Lagoon and Mandorak Beach, Prai Ijing Traditional Village, sunset at Warinding Hill, then on to Waingapu.

  3. Day 3

    Tanarara & Walakiri

    Tanarara Savanna, Waimarang or Tanggedu Waterfall, then sunset at Walakiri Beach.

  4. Day 4

    Tanau Hill & Departure

    Early morning at Tanau Hill, a souvenir shop and Persaudaraan Hill. The trip ends at Waingapu Airport (WGP).

The itinerary may change with conditions at the destination or force majeure. Everyone follows the tour leader's directions during the trip.

Where do the Sumba trips start and finish?

Every trip starts at 12.00 WITA at Tambolaka Airport (TMC) or a hotel near it, with pick-up from 11.00. It finishes at 11.00 WITA at Waingapu Airport (WGP) in East Sumba.

When should I book my flights?

Arrive the day before, or on a flight that lands before 12.00 on day one. Fly home the day after the trip if you can: the itinerary cannot be adjusted to flight times.

When is the best time to visit Sumba?

December to March is the green season, April to May turns from green to yellow, and June to November is the yellow season.

How do I pay for the trip?

Pay a deposit of at least 50%, then the balance no later than 14 days before departure. Booking within 14 days of the trip means paying in full.

What happens if I cancel?

The deposit is non-refundable and cannot be moved to another date, but you can pass your place to someone else. Trips changed or cancelled by force majeure are not refunded.

Do I get the photos and videos?

Yes. Every trip is documented with drone and mirrorless cameras. Bring a hard disk rather than a flash drive: the files are usually over 32 GB and are copied on day 3.

Who can join the open trip?

Travellers aged 10 to 50 in good health, because the waterfall paths are steep and slippery. Outside that range, choose a private trip.
